Older Adult Typology

Think about the people you know who are older (including yourself). Now think about how active or not they are. Do they make conscious choices for a regular program of exercise? Do they walk regularly or go to the gym? Do yard work? Does where they live make a difference?

We've been thinking about this, too, and are working to establish a typology of older adults. We believe there are four basic types, as shown to the left. But, are testing this theory a couple of ways in collaboration with Amanda Grimes, PhD at the University of Missouri-Kansas City's School of Nursing.
